What Happens At A Boudoir Shoot?

Booking a boudoir photoshoot can feel exciting, empowering… and a little nerve-wracking if you’ve never done one before. One of the most common questions I hear from women is: “What actually happens at a boudoir shoot?”

The truth is, a professional boudoir photography experience is designed to make you feel comfortable, confident, and completely looked after from start to finish.

At my studio near Camberley, just outside London, every session is relaxed, supportive, and focused on helping you see yourself in a new light.

Step 1: Booking Your Boudoir Experience

Your boudoir experience begins long before you step in front of the camera. Once you book your session, you’ll receive guidance on everything you need to know to prepare.

This includes:

  • What to bring

  • Outfit ideas

  • How the day works

  • Tips to help you feel confident and relaxed

Many women book their session months in advance, whether it’s for themselves, a milestone birthday, or as a surprise gift like bridal boudoir before their wedding.

Clients travel from Camberley, Surrey, Guildford, Epsom, Hampshire, Berkshire and London for their boudoir experience because they want a professional studio environment where they feel safe and supported.

Step 2: Professional Hair and Makeup

Your day starts with professional hair and makeup. This is included in the £395 session fee and is an important part of the experience.

It gives you time to relax, chat, and settle into the studio before the photoshoot begins.

Hair and makeup is styled to look:

  • polished but still like you

  • soft and flattering for photography

  • timeless rather than overly heavy

Many clients tell me this is the moment they begin to feel the excitement build.

Step 3: A Guided, Fully Posed Photoshoot

One of the biggest worries women have is:

"I don’t know how to pose."

The good news? You don’t need to.

Every pose is fully guided from head to toe. I will show you exactly how to position your body, hands, and expressions so that you look natural and flattering in every image.

Most boudoir sessions include:

  • 2–4 outfit changes

  • posing guidance throughout

  • a relaxed pace so you never feel rushed

The studio uses beautiful natural light to create soft, editorial-style images that feel elegant, feminine and timeless.

No modelling experience is needed. In fact, most women who walk through the door say they are nervous at first — and leave saying they felt empowered and surprisingly confident by the end.

Step 4: The Private Viewing Session

After your photoshoot, you’ll return to the studio for your private viewing and ordering appointment.

This is where you get to see your images for the first time.

Many women are shocked (in the best way) when they see themselves through someone else’s lens.

Your images will be presented privately and you can choose how you’d like to keep them — whether that’s a luxury album, wall art, or a beautiful gift for a partner.

There is absolutely no pressure. The goal is simply to choose the images that make you feel incredible.

Step 5: Leaving With a New Confidence

While some women book a boudoir shoot as a gift for someone else, many leave realising the experience was actually a gift for themselves.

Boudoir photography often helps women:

  • reconnect with their confidence

  • see themselves differently

  • celebrate their body at any stage of life

  • mark a milestone like a wedding, birthday or personal transformation

It’s about empowerment, not perfection.

Who Books Boudoir Photoshoots?

Boudoir photography isn’t just for models or influencers. Most clients are everyday women from across Surrey, London, Berkshire and Hampshire who simply want to celebrate themselves.

Common reasons women book include:

  • Bridal boudoir as a wedding gift

  • milestone birthdays (30, 40, 50+)

  • post-baby confidence

  • celebrating weight loss or personal growth

  • simply doing something bold for themselves

Every session is private, respectful, and focused on creating images that feel powerful and authentic.

My studio is based in Camberley, Surrey, making it easily accessible for clients travelling from Guildford, Epsom, Berkshire, Hampshire and London.

The space is designed to feel calm, private and welcoming, with beautiful natural light that creates soft, editorial-style boudoir portraits.

Sessions take place primarily on weekdays, with a limited number of Saturdays available each month.

Thinking About Booking a Boudoir Shoot?

Feeling nervous is completely normal. Almost every client says the same thing before their session — and the same thing afterwards too:

"I wish I had done this sooner."

If you're curious about experiencing boudoir photography near London, I’d love to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

Your confidence is already there. Sometimes it just takes seeing yourself in a new way to remember it.
